GREEN TEAM ARROWHEAD

Published by Jan

One of the reasons my Broker Jeff Perlis invested in turning an old, run-down, eye-sore of a gas station into a beautiful real estate office / Welcome Center was he wanted the mountian community to have access to a multi-purpose building to house community events at little or no fees. He wanted a comfortable place where mountain-oriented political, youth, art  and movie groups could gather.

One such group that Jeff started is called “Green Team Arrowhead” (GTA). As the name implies the group is chartered to explore, research and introduce into the community self-sustaining, environmentally friendly, if not down right environmentally beneficial programs for mountain residents to learn and profit from.

The GTA group meets at 7:00 am Wednesday mornings; takes a lot of dedication to get up that early.

At first there were only four or five members. One member said he thought they were wasting their time; thinking up environment saving ideas which no one cared about.

Quickly they learned if they were going to have impact they had to do something worth noticing.

Averill Strasser, a founding member, decided to put up thousands of his own dollars to buy an old Porshe 914 and turn it into an all electrical car. Jeff followed suit making plans to turn the Welcome Center into a show place for wind and solar power; as well as rain water accumulation for agricultural purposes.

Soon more people were gathering at dark-thirty. Plans began for a huge Earth Day Celebration in the San Bernardino Mountains. A meeting was held on January 16th with 40 or more representatives of the water companies, sewerage, electrical and Southern California Air Quality Boards attending. Political people, both local and federal, sent representatives. The Tree People, SOFA (Save Our Forest Association), The Sierra Club and Hearts and Minds (a local organization responsible for helping hundreds of mountain residents after the forest fires) showed up brimming with enthusiasm to help in the planning of a multi-facetted Earth Day Celebration.

So mark your calendars for April 18th, 2009 when Green Team Arrowhead unleashes the first of many planned projects to showcase the San Bernardino mountains as a show place for protecting the earth, using alternative energy effectively and sustainably as well as living in harmony with the beauty that surrounds us up here.

It will be tremendously exciting. Inspirational. Practacle and valuable. And it started in our offices where we try to be more than just a real estate company but also a good friend of our community and the splendid place we call home.

Hello, i’ve been browsing around your site and it looks really really neat. I’m building an automotive home page and struggling to make it look good, everytime I touch something I mess it up. How hard was it to build your site? Could someone like me with no experience do it, and add update pages without wrecking it every time?
